San Juan Symphony Student Side-By-Side Auditions

SIDE-BY-SIDE AUDITION INFORMATION 
Who can participate?

• Student musicians who demonstrate the ability to play advanced symphonic repertoire.
• Students who can attend ALL rehearsals and performances. No exceptions. Please check all the dates before you audition.  If you miss a rehearsal for any reason, you will not be allowed to perform.
• Students who are selected through an audition process by playing excerpts from: Coleridge-Taylor’s Ballade in a minor and Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate’s Chofki: Sarcasm. 
• Students who agree to be fully prepared for the rehearsals and the performances.

• December 2 (Saturday) Video recording audition deadline 8 pm 
• February 8 (Thursday) Rehearsal 7:00 pm-8:30 pm San Juan College Henderson - Farmington
• February 9 (Friday) Rehearsal 7:00 pm-8:00 pm Fort Lewis College Concert Hall - Durango
• February 10 (Saturday) PERFORMANCE 7:30 pm Fort Lewis College Concert Hall - Durango
• February 11 (Sunday) PERFORMANCE 3:00 pm San Juan College Henderson - Farmington

• NOTE: These downloads are for practice purposes only and should not be copied or distributed.
• Learn the excerpts and play at the appropriate tempos referencing these recordings:

• Make a video of your audition: all excerpts in order on one video. Please do not submit multiple videos!
• Upload to YouTube (unlisted video) and submit a link to your video by 8 p.m. December 2.
• Students will be notified of acceptance by 8 p.m. on December 6.

What are the audition spots?

Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello and Bass, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba and Percussion
Strings: Please play the BOTTOM of any divisi parts, double stops, or chords. VIOLINS should choose to audition for 1st violin or 2nd violin (the excerpts are different).
